A fine oil painting by the renowned artist John Sanderson Wells " Returning from a Country Ride" This painting captures beautifully the image of past rural country life, riders returning to their country house ready to hand their horses to the groom. oil on canvas, signed, dating from the early 20th century the size overall being 78cm x 60cm whilst painting size is 59cm x 38cm Housed in the original gilt frame In overall excellent condition ready to hang John Sanderson-Wells (British 1872-1955): was an English artist best known for his naturalistic depictions of horses and genre scenes. Born in 1872 in London.He studied at the Slade School of Art in London and later at the Académie Julian in Paris. Sanderson-Wells exhibited at both the Royal Academy in London and was elected to the Royal Institute in 1903. Much of his work was commissioned by the gentry and so remains in private collections, but can also be found in Museums and Art Galleries in the United Kingdom.
