This painting was inspired by the simple joy of watching hummingbirds flit and play among the flowers in artist Karen Barton's garden. Two birds hover at the center of the composition, their delicate forms captured mid-flight against a sun-washed backdrop. A soft arch frames the top, encased by a golden ochre square and surrounded by rich green tones that echo the lushness of a garden in bloom. The layered framing draws the eye inward, emphasizing the gentle interaction between the birds.

About the Artist
Inspired by the beauty and intricate details of nature, artist Karen Barton captures the essence of what she observes in the world around her, especially in her own backyard. "I am particularly drawn to the delicate beauty of hummingbirds and butterflies," says Karen. Her paintings are created through a blend of observation, imagination, photography, and research. Using both brushwork and a palette knife, she manipulates the paint to create contrasting colors and textures. When she's not painting, Karen enjoys tending to her flower garden and baking artisanal breads.
