About the Item

Rachel Linnemeier's "Purrfect Pet" is an original, handmade oil painting that depicts a yellow Tamagotchi toy on a pink background. About the Artist: Born in 1989 in rural Indiana, Rachel Linnemeier creates her figurative paintings in the medium of oil paint. In 2013 she completed her undergraduate BFA with an emphasis in Painting and a minor in Art History from Herron School of Art & Design in Indianapolis. She has studied in workshops with painters Alyssa Monks and David Kassan. Rachel has participated in group exhibitions with RJD Gallery in Bridgehampton, NY, Abend Gallery in Denver, CO, and The Heard Museum in Phoenix, AZ. In 2019 she exhibited in “Painting Today, International Women’s Day,” an exhibition at the prestigious MEAM - European Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona, Spain. Rachel’s art was also featured in the first International Biennial Portrait Competition at Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art in Wisconsin. Her work has been featured in American Art Collector and in several issues of PoetsArtists. Through PoetsArtists she has participated in online exclusive exhibitions on Artsy with the Zhou B Art Center in Chicago. Rachel currently lives and paints in Tucson, Arizona. Her most recent body of work began as a collection of self-portraits, but the subject matter soon progressed to include other powerful young women in situations that both evoke strong feelings of nostalgia and inspire narratives. The overarching theme of Rachel’s work includes tension between the idea of modern adulthood and residual childhood. Each piece is composed of bright and vivid colors creating a youthful feeling while simultaneously expressing maturity through the pose and expression of the figure.

"Everyone's Favorite Game, " Oil painting
By Kelly Birkenruth
Located in Denver, CO
Kelly Birkenruth's oil painting "Everyone's Favorite Game" depicts a rock, paper, and scissors. About the artist: Kelly Birkenruth’s captivating paintings are in the style of contemporary realism while staying firmly grounded in the tradition of the Old Masters. She is able to pull the viewer into her paintings by interweaving emotion with a humanistic quality through her supreme handling of light. Through her portraits and still lifes she is able to evoke sensitivity and empathy, which in turn allows her to create images which transcend mere representation to capture the true essence of her subject. Kelly’s arresting compositions, draftsmanship, use of color and observation of detail allow her to create paintings with a timeless quality. After earning her degree from Pennsylvania State University, Kelly moved to southern California where she began a career as a fashion model. Her agency soon sent her abroad to Paris and Tokyo, where she spent the next several years modeling. When she wasn’t walking the runway, she spent endless hours in the great museums of the world, closely observing and studying the works of the Old Masters. “My time abroad, particularly in Paris, opened my eyes to the vast beauty and power of a great painting. After that I knew I wanted to dedicate my life to the pursuit of Fine Art” said Birkenruth. After returning to the States, Kelly studied at Otis College of Art in Los Angeles, CA. She then continued her studies through workshops and private study with renowned artists such as Daniel Sprick, Steven Assael and Jesus Emmanuel Villarreal. In the spring of 2019 Kelly...
