A lone red cardinal perches on a line of barbed wire. Its singular bright color the central focus against the background of neutral gray. "Sometimes feeling restrained is in your own mind," says artist Sally Adams. "Perhaps that's why one must leave."
About the Artist
Sally Adams recalls the moment she became a painter at the age of four; her love for art is innate and lifelong. Her intention is to extract beauty from everyday life. The advice of an art teacher, “less is more,” is one of Sally’s guiding principles. Her artwork brims with intimate simplicity and childlike joy. She enjoys simplifying and sweetening compositions from nature, such as trees and birds, painting only the core components necessary to convey an emotional connection. Sally has three grown daughters who are all active artists, and they work together whenever possible. “I taught them the joy of creating art when they were young,” says Sally, “and they taught me to do what I love for a living, by their own example, in adulthood.”
