About the Item
Valarie Wolf's sighthound dog painting is of an Italian Greyhound with a beautiful collar. The Italian Greyhound, a sighthound dog, has the poise of a model with a glamorous collar which was just purchased by its owner while shopping on Fifth Avenue. The charming dog painting in neutral colors is a 6" x 8" small oil of a graceful Italian Greyhound dog. Valarie Wolf traditionally paints equine subjects, but also loves to paint charming small dog paintings which make the viewer smile. Valarie Wolf uses subdued, elegant colors of yesteryear. Her paintings are a nod to the past. This dog painting is in a simple 1" black wood frame.
Valarie Wolf has made a lifetime commitment to represent the horse beautifully and accurately by incorporating a palette and style reminiscent of the Old Masters, by using subdued, elegant colors of yesteryear, and by slowly building up transparent glazes, achieving paintings which are luminous. She holds a B.A. Degree in art. Her paintings are known for being exquisitely detailed, even while being viewed close up. This is an important aspect of her painting style. Says Valarie, “When I visit an art gallery and see a painting from across the room, often getting up close, I find that what I thought was a smooth accurate painting is actually rendered quite roughly. Art which retains its detail, smoothness, and skillful blending of paint while being viewed up close is always the most impressive to me.” Some of Valarie’s many awards include the American Academy of Equine Art’s Jean Bowman Memorial Award for Painting (two time recipient), AAEA’s Else Tuckerman Memorial Award for Classical Portraiture, First place Oils, Western States Horse Expo, Second Place Oils, Draft Horse Classic, and People’s Choice Awards “Horse in Motion” exhibit. Valarie’s work has been displayed at the Kentucky Horse Park and the Kentucky Derby Museum, as well as the Aiken Thoroughbred Hall of Fame Museum. Valarie was selected to participate in the Hubbard Museum of the American West’s American Horses and American Artists’ exhibit where all of her pieces were sold. P.
