About the Item
Valarie Wolf's animal painting "From the Shadows" unveils a majestic wolf, piercingly gazing out from the depths of the forest underbrush, inviting you into a world of enchantment and mystery. The wolf reigns supreme as the overseer of the serene woodland landscape, embodying strength, wisdom, and guardianship. Who could resist the allure of being watched over by such a noble creature, the epitome of canine majesty?
While Valarie Wolf is celebrated for her equine paintings, her passion for immortalizing the essence of nature's smaller inhabitants shines brightly in this captivating artwork. Immerse yourself in the timeless charm of Wolf's work, where each brushstroke delicately captures the essence of bygone beauty, evoking a profound sense of nostalgia and wonder.
The wolf painting, "From the Shadows" is presented in a sleek 1" black wood frame.
Valarie Wolf has made a lifetime commitment to represent the horse beautifully and accurately by incorporating a palette and style reminiscent of the Old Masters, by using subdued, elegant colors of yesteryear, and by slowly building up transparent glazes, achieving paintings which are luminous. She holds a B.A. Degree in art. Her paintings are known for being exquisitely detailed, even while being viewed close up. This is an important aspect of her painting style. Says Valarie, “When I visit an art gallery and see a painting from across the room, often getting up close, I find that what I thought was a smooth accurate painting is actually rendered quite roughly. Art which retains its detail, smoothness, and skillful blending of paint while being viewed up close is always the most impressive to me.” Some of Valarie’s many awards include the American Academy of Equine Art’s Jean Bowman Memorial Award for Painting (two time recipient), AAEA’s Else Tuckerman Memorial Award for Classical Portraiture, First place Oils, Western States Horse Expo, Second Place Oils, Draft Horse Classic, and People’s Choice Awards “Horse in Motion” exhibit. Valarie’s work has been displayed at the Kentucky Horse Park and the Kentucky Derby Museum, as well as the Aiken Thoroughbred Hall of Fame Museum. Valarie was selected to participate in the Hubbard Museum of the American West’s American Horses and American Artists’ exhibit where all of her pieces were sold. P. Windmill and Shepherd Boy Landscape Collaboration Two Famous Norwegian Artists
Located in Stockholm, SE
Сollaboration work by two Norwegian artists: Morten Müller (1828 - 1911) and Olaf Christopher Dahl (1842 - 1895). Painted approximately in late 19th century (ca. 1870 - 1880). The collaboration of two renowned Norwegian artists in this landscape is an example of the fusion of their talent and skill. A very interesting compositional solution, where among the hills buried in vegetation, a lowland with a small pond is depicted, where a young shepherd has brought his cow to the watering hole. In the distance, on the hill, a windmill is visible, creating an emphasis on the perspective and depth of the composition. The nuanced interplay of light and shadow adds of complexity to the scene. The calmness of the pastoral setting below contrasts markedly with presence of gloomy clouds looming above. This juxtaposition creates a harmonious balance, presenting a duality inherent in nature. And this rare and awesome work of art should be considered for museum collection as well. Both painters presented in National Museum Oslo, Norway.
Size app.: 46 x 69 cm (roughly 18.1 x 27.2 in), with frame 60 x 84 cm cm (roughly 23.6 x 33.1 in). Good condition with wear, tiny losses to paint in minor areas and craquelure. So it needs minor care and conservation. Please study good resolution images for overall cosmetic condition. In person actual painting may appear darker or brighter than in our pictures, strictly depending on sufficient light in your environment. Weight of app. 4.4 kg is going to measure some 6 kg volume weight packed for shipment.
Morten Müller began his art studies with Adolph Tidemand and Hans Gude in Düsseldorf, Germany, from 1847 to 1848. From 1850 he was again a student at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, with Johann Wilhelm Schirmer as a teacher. From 1850 to 1851, Müller painted with the Swedish landscape painter Marcus...
