About the Item
TWELVE CHAIRS GALLERY
“Goat” (2012) by Zura is a dynamic acrylic painting on wooden panels, measuring 35 × 42 inches (88.9 × 106.7 cm). This early work exemplifies Zura's signature fusion of human and animal forms, delving into the primal instincts that reside within us. The goat, often associated with resilience and independence, is rendered with expressive brushwork and bold lines, inviting viewers to explore the complex interplay between humanity and nature. This piece stands as a compelling addition for collectors drawn to thought-provoking contemporary art.
Central to Zura’s artistic vision is the human form, often intertwined with animal heads—a compelling exploration of the primal instincts within human nature. His work captivates with its raw emotion, symbolic depth, and refined execution. In the spring of 2022, he captivated audiences during an exhibition in Williamsburg, unveiling a striking new series of works.
Zura is a world-renowned artist celebrated for his powerful sculptures and paintings. His works grace public spaces across New York City, Atlanta, Georgia, and Connecticut, and are held in distinguished private collections, including that of American hedge fund manager Victor Niederhoffer.
Born in the Republic of Georgia, Zura spent 14 years developing his craft before formally studying at the State Academy of Fine Art. He now lives and works in Brooklyn, where his Williamsburg studio serves as both a creative sanctuary and a teaching space, where he shares his expertise through sculpting classes.
Zura remains deeply committed to his practice, guided by a philosophy rooted in beauty, love, and harmony.
