About the Item
Presqu'île de Crozon, Brittany, France. In this oil painting, I sought to capture the invigorating and intrepid essence of the ocean and translate the natural light and changing atmosphere of the coastline. The grandeur of the canvas embraces the viewer, inviting them to feel the breath of the wind and the murmur of the waves. The clouds, painted with vivacity, converse with the tumultuous sea. The gaze is invited to follow the play of the waves that break with determination towards the shore. In the background, the rocky promontory presents itself as an unchanging bastion in this landscape of perpetual transformation. The texture and form of the cliff offer a solid juxtaposition against the fluidity of the water. With this work, I wanted the observer to stand there, facing the immensity, and experience the tranquility and strength of the Brittany coast. This painting is painted with professional grade oil colors on a primed canvas. I prepare myself my canvases to create a texture specific to my painting needs and to insure them maximum longevity. Raised between California and Colorado, she spent her formative years outdoors—exploring her grandfather’s sheep ranch, walking beaches with her grandmother, and discovering California Impressionism in the galleries of Laguna Beach. She later studied with noted photographer MacDuff Everton at UC Santa Barbara and trained in plein air painting with Maddine Insalaco and Joe Vinson in Italy.
