Adolph Brougier
Adolph Brougier was born on September 23, 1870, in Stuttgart. He was the son of a German merchant whose family was of French origin. Brougier studied art for three years in Munich and later spent a year in Paris, where he studied under Benjamin Constant and Bouguereau. From there, he went to Rome, where he also took up sculpture. Settling down in Munich, Brougier became a member of the Ktinster Genossenschaft and Luitpoldgruppe. He lived in England from 1901. Brougier exhibited at Munich, Berlin, Salon at Paris and Royal Academy. He was a figure and landscape painter and had a membership for the Royal Society of British Artists.
