About the Item
"Skylover" is a contemporary realist male nude perspective oil painting in a unique wood frame. An ellipse shaped canvas displays a man laying on the ground under the morning sky. His feet are the first thing a viewer will notice, depicted in precise realism. His legs, and torso fall into a shadow and the foreshortening of his body is so proportionatley accurate that we barely can view his chest, or head. His face peaks up above the horizon, backlit against the ochre yellow morning sky.
The frame is is great condition, however it has its nuances. A few cracks along the wood are visible, yet do not deter from the sturdiness of the frame. The inner gold trim on the upper left has a dent - again, does not detract from the image. Some metal staples appear along the lower left corner of the frame. Overall, a rustic aesthetic wooden frame encapsulates a serious realist figurative painting. A true masterwork by a living painter in the 21st Century.
Artist Bio
Anthony Ackrill was born in Alaska in 1958, but spent most of his childhood in Florida and Ohio. He decided to pursue painting at a relatively late age. Subsequently, he studied graphic design, and worked as an art director at an established advertising agency. In addition, he designed his own line of humorous greeting cards, which sold internationally. Following this period, Mr. Ackrill began to study drawing and painting on his own. After winning awards in several local and regional art contests, as well as selling some of his paintings, he sought a more formal education to help develop his talent. Mr. Ackrill found an excellent atelier-styled school for artists in Florence, Italy and enrolled in late 1995, at the age of 37.
In his second year in Florence, Mr. Ackrill began teaching anatomy to his fellow students, and then also taught drawing and painting. After five years of painting and teaching in Florence Italy, he returned to Florida, where he now has his own studio.

Angel Ramiro Sanchez was born in 1974 in Maracaibo, Venezuela. At age six was accepted with full scholarship into the Instituto the Niños Cantores del Zulia, school for musically gifted children. At age fourteen he began five years of apprenticeship with the realist painter, Abdon J. Romero, an eminent specialist in murals for churches and public buildings. In 1993, a study grant from Mgr. Gustavo Ocando Yamarte, Founder the Niños Cantores, enabled him to travel to Florence, Italy, where he studied at the renowned Accademia di Belle Arti, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1997. At the same time, he was enrolled at The Florence Academy of Art,founded by painter Daniel Graves, where he received a diploma in Painting. Ramiro was appointed senior painting instructor at The Florence Academy of Art in 1997, and is currently Director of the Advanced Painting Program.
Ramiro paints only from life, searching for accuracy beyond physical appearance to reach the psychological state of his subject. He believes the painter must draw his information from "all five senses" to tell the complete human story.
Ramiros work is predominantly represented by th e Grenning Gallery in Sag Harbor, New York, but also Scriba Gallery, venice, Italy, Jack Meier Gallery, Houston, Tx.
Ramiros works can be found in numerous private collections in Europe, The United States and South America. Public collections include: The Fondazione Stelline, Milan, Italy. The Fremantle Foundation for Foreing Artist in Tuscany at Villa Peyron, Florence, Italy and The Muscarelle Museum of Art at the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, VA. USA. He shares his life and passion for art with his wife, the artist Melissa Franklin-Sanchez.

Part of Daniela Astone's series of figures in different ethereal and surrealistic spaces. "The Kiss" brings to mind Gustav Klimt's famous 1908 painting of the same name but instead of an abstracted gold background, Astone creates a mysterious creature enveloping and suspending the figure in mid-air. The dark monster looks ominous until you notice the nude figure leaning into her partner, her hands lightly caressing or leaning on the the amorphous creature. Her body is relaxed and her eyes closed. As a classical artist who paints the nude figure everyday, Astone is masterful at depicting women at ease in their natural bodies rather than women self-conscious of their nudity—posing but fearful of exploitation at the same time—a theme in art history that continues today.
Some of the sweeping strokes of black are inspired by Japanese paintings techniques, and on the lighter areas there are rain drop falling from a blue-grey cloud in the background.
