About the Item

Early figurative portrait painting by Houston-based artist Buford Evans. The work features a black man looking to the sky with an anguished expression on his face as a young child clings to him. Signed and dated by the artist in the front lower right corner as well as signed, titled, and dated on the reverse. Currently hung in a decorative gold and brown frame. Artist Biography: Born and raised in Golinda, TX, Buford moved to Houston in 1955 after serving in the Air Force in the early 1950s.
