About the Item
Born in Lebanon, Daisy Abi Jaber studied at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts and Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris. She had participated in several individual and group exhibitions in France and Italy.
Marked by the Lebanese War and an amputated childhood, her method of painting presents her dreams and anxieties, a world painted in signs and colors, called “Behind The Image”.
For the artist, “BEHIND THE IMAGE is an expression often used to mean that there's something deeper or hidden behind what we see at first sight.
My perceptions came when I held the first pieces of the broken glass and the twisted lead from the stained-glass windows blown on August 4.
It all started from there.. I ventured down the path of assembling without constraints, limits or frontiers! Once I had made my first gestures, the paintings emerged under the influence of the stained glass and the event itself.. Colourful emotions were born, Haïkus* titled the image! It was an explosion of hues, words and materials!
Three years in which glass, lead, canvas, pigments and words straddled my daily life, therefore, BEHIND THE IMAGE was born, exercising my contradictory perceptions!”
*Haïku: The haiku is a Japanese form of short poetry, a way of noting emotions, the moment that passes, that amazes or astonishes.

Early Life and Education:
Ghazi Baker, a proponent of Neo-expressionism, was born in 1967 in the vibrant city of Beirut, Lebanon. Raised amidst the rich cultural tapestry of Lebanon, Baker's early years were influenced by the eclectic blend of history, art, and tumultuous social dynamics of the region. In 1991, Baker graduated with distinction from the esteemed American University in Beirut, earning a degree in architecture (B. Arch). This academic pursuit not only honed his technical skills but also instilled in him a profound appreciation for spatial dynamics, form, and structure—a foundation that would later shape his distinctive artistic style.
Artistic Journey:
Despite his architectural training, Baker felt an irresistible pull towards the realm of visual arts. Fueled by an innate passion for creativity and expression, he embarked on a transformative journey into the world of painting. Drawing inspiration from his surroundings, Baker immersed himself in the vibrant palette of pop art and Neo-expressionism— movements characterized by i bold colors, emotive brushwork, and introspective themes.
Neo-expressionist Evolution:
