A man in elegant period costume relaxes in a tavern setting. This painting was acquired as part of a pair. The companion piece is also listed on our website and depicts a woman in a similarly candid pose (sq862). Together they form a charming, jovial diptych where the two figures engage in intimate, relaxed conversation. Well presented in an ornate gilt-effect frame. On panel.
