About the Item
A fine impressionist painting with figures on a bridge by Hungarian / French artist Francois Gall (1912-1987). Gall was born in Kolozvar, Hungary and began his artistic studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and was awarded a scholarship in 1930 from the Hungarian government. Six years later: Francois Gall established himself in Paris and became a student of Devambez at the National Academy of Fine Arts. He became a naturalized French citizen in 1942, and is best known as an impressionist painter in the pure French tradition. Oil on canvas, signed lower left and on verso, and housed in a decorative polychrome & giltwood frame with gilt inset. Dimensions: 10.75 in H x 14 in W, actual; 17.38 in H x 20.5 in W, framed.
