About the Item

➡️Still Life from J Robert⬅️ 🟢Jacques Robert (1921–1997) was a French writer, journalist, and screenwriter. Born on June 27, 1921, in Lyon, France, he began his career in journalism and gained notable recognition in May 1945 as the only Western journalist to enter Hitler's bunker in Berlin. Throughout his career, Robert authored over 40 books and novels, with approximately 20 adapted into films. Notable adaptations include "The Long Teeth" directed by Daniel Gélin, "Marie-Octobre" by Julien Duvivier, and "Someone Behind the Door" featuring Charles Bronson and Anthony Perkins. He was also a prolific screenwriter for both film and television. Jacques Robert passed away on August 11, 1997, in Rouen, France, at the age of 76. (Wikipedia) In addition to his literary and cinematic contributions, Jacques Robert was also an artist. Born in 1921 and passing in 1998, his artworks have been presented at public auctions multiple times. His pieces include lithographs such as "L'Escargot" and "Ruban stylisé," as well as oil paintings like "Église Saint-Rémi à Maisons-Alfort." This painting is a still life composition, showcasing a variety of objects arranged on a table ⭐Structural Analysis⭐ The artwork depicts a rustic still life with a bottle wrapped in straw (resembling a traditional Chianti wine bottle), a copper kettle, a glass with liquid, apples, grapes, a lemon slice, and a white tablecloth. The dark background contrasts with the bright highlights of the objects in the foreground, creating a sense of depth. The objects are arranged in a way that leads the eye across the painting: from the bottle and kettle at the back, down to the fruits and glass in the foreground. The slightly asymmetrical placement of elements makes the scene dynamic while maintaining balance. The horizon line is placed relatively high. ⭐Color Analysis⭐ The warm, earthy tones dominate the painting, particularly in the bottle, kettle, and fruits. The white tablecloth serves as a bright focal point and enhances contrast. The dark background deepens the composition and emphasizes the illuminated objects. The brushstrokes appear thick and expressive, especially in the depiction of the tablecloth and bottle. The impasto technique is visible in areas like the bottle’s straw wrapping, giving a textured, tactile effect. The smooth rendering of the copper kettle contrasts with the rougher treatment of the tablecloth and fruits, adding variety in texture. ⭐Style & Influence:⭐ This still life has elements reminiscent of Post-Impressionist or Realist traditions, where texture and lighting play a crucial role. The use of dark backgrounds and strong contrasts is also reminiscent of 17th-century Baroque still life paintings. Technique: oil on wood panel 41x33 cm / 16x13 inch ⏩It is signed J Robert.⏪ ⭐Condition : ⭐- No deformation. No Cracks. Ready to hang ⭐Provenance:⭐ Private collection - France. (Shipping from France is fast 4-6 days.)
