About the Artist: Born in 1874 in Mexico, Martin Saldaña spent his early years at Rancho Neuvo, immersed in the rural landscapes that would later inspire his art. At 76, he began attending children’s art classes at the Denver Art Museum, starting an artistic journey that spanned 15 years. Saldaña’s work, rich in color and depicting whimsical memories from his childhood in San Luis Potosí, captures ranch life, animals, and landscapes with innocence and charm. A self-taught artist and folk art icon, Saldaña’s use of vibrant colors and geometric figures reflects his Mexican heritage, particularly the tapestries and folk traditions of his homeland.
