About the Item

MICHELE MIKESELL b. 1973, Alabama, USA In 2002, Michele Mikesell earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a minor in graphic design from Texas Women's University in Denton, TX. Mikesell completed her Master of Fine Arts at the University of Oklahoma in Norman in 2004. “Creating individuals is what I find most interesting in the studio. It is my hope that these portraits will be familiar characters to the viewer, subjects we recognize and identify with. My work consistently travels along a general vein of the universal human experience. This particular group of paintings is an iconographical departure from previous work in that literal human features have been introduced. Other aspects of this work directly reference the anthropomorphic petro glyph characters in which I first based my interest in painting. These realistic, stylized faces placed within loosely interpreted animal shapes and costumes narrate a continued thesis of dichotomy and metaphor - comparing and contrasting human ideas with animal instinct. Irony, contradiction, humor and tragedy, have been continued themes in my work and are illustrated not only within the image, but within the actual paint and surface of the painting. I am influenced by a diverse and extremely eclectic group of different movements including Abstract and German Expressionism, Art Informal, Children’s Art, as well as the 17th century Dutch masters and the current Pop Surrealist movement. I work with little or no pre-conceived finished piece. My process is a constant acting and reacting from and within the marks subliminally laid into the paint.”

Anubis Reimagined: Abstract Figurative Painting, Mythological & Surreal Themes
By Michele Mikesell
Located in Dallas, TX
This captivating oil painting by Michele Mikesell is a striking fusion of abstract and figurative styles, masterfully crafted on a large 51 x 38-inch canvas (130 x 97 cm). Titled "Anubis Reimagined", this piece embodies an evocative exploration of mythological and surreal themes. The central figure, elongated and adorned with a crown-like element, exudes an enigmatic presence, reminiscent of ancient Egyptian deities merged with contemporary abstract expressionism. The muted gray-green background, punctuated by delicate marks and textures, serves as a minimalist stage that accentuates the vivid colors and layered details within the figure. Subtle strokes of bold yellows, reds, and blues blend seamlessly with the raw textures, creating a sense of depth and intrigue. This artwork invites viewers to interpret its narrative while showcasing Mikesell’s signature style—a harmonious balance of mystery, abstraction, and symbolism. Perfect for collectors and art enthusiasts seeking a bold yet contemplative centerpiece, this painting complements modern, eclectic, and minimal interiors alike. Its large-scale format and compelling design make it ideal for gallery walls, luxury residences, or professional spaces. Donna Con Cavallo Errante - Original Figurative Cubist Painting on Canvas
By Alessandro Siviglia
Located in Los Angeles, CA
In his abstract figurative work, internationally collected artist Alessandro Siviglia deconstructs everyday objects, landscapes, and human subjects into colorful geometric shapes in an attempt to represent their three-dimensional nature on a two-dimensional medium without using a naturalistic one-point perspective or shading. This technique translates into a visual language of perceiving the world around us with new emotions. Siviglia's cubist expressionist scenes often include people and small stray animals, which are used to reflect his concept of relativity with amalgams of time and place. This one-of-a-kind 32-inch high by 24-inch wide mixed media composition on canvas is stretched, wired, and ready to hang. The artist signed this original artwork on the front as well as on the back. The sides are painted and it does not require framing. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping are available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Alessandro Siviglia was born in Salerno, Italy in 1982. He immersed himself in art from an early age. Siviglia was initially drawn to street art, where he was able to express his artistic interests by graffiti writing on large public spaces using the alias CROW. After a 15 year stretch of taking a bold, guerrilla approach to art Siviglia began to create works on canvas that combine his street art background with more traditional artistic conventions. Much of his transformative inspiration stemmed from regularly visiting the Filiberto Menna Art Institute in Salerno. His modernist artworks...
