Natalya Mougenot Contemporary figurative portrait of a faceless woman "Freedom of Choice"2024
2024
About the Item
This painting features a faceless portrait of a woman wearing a head green covering and pink dangle earrings.
I wanted to explore the theme “Freedom of Choice”: I believe every woman has the right to decide what she wants to wear. Some women cover their heads for their own religious or spiritual reasons assuming that the crown of the head is a seat of spiritual power. Some do it for fashion. Some try to be modest in their dress and clothes. Some want to feel more confident in being themselves: wrapping hair can give you a reason to get up and get dressed in the morning, and helps you feel stronger, more grown-up, more beautiful, and more confident.
This painting is executed in a contemporary figurative stye with a mix of expressionism, art brut and art naif (raw art). My art is based on a freedom of forms, on the abundant use of bold colors with a nontraditional nonacademic approach.
Embracing my roots and my cultural background through having a special spiritual connection to the women I depict on my canvases. The theme of women, womanhood and femininity is at the core spiritual connection to the women I depict on my canvases.
My theme of exploration was the potency of emotional transparency aiming at embracing a woman's strength and the desire and the necessity of a woman to be free in her choices and decisions.
This artwork is done with watercolor and acrylics paints on a professional paper. It was protected with vanish.
The painting is sold unframed.
You are welcome to frame it according to your taste and interior.
The photos of the artwork in the interior are for your inspiration.
This is a unique, one of a kind original painting. It is signed on the front and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. The painting will be carefully packed in cardboard box with layers of bubble wrap and sent out to you as soon as possible.
Please understand colors may vary slightly between the actual painting and the image on your screen due to my digital camera's results and your monitor.

Natalya is a contemporary artist from Lyon, France. She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes and low mountains. She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country. She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis when she was struggling with radical life changes. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now. Several years ago painting became more than a hobby. It became a way of expressing her emotions and visions, a successive reaction to events of either personal or general concern. Her artist statement: “ I paint as it’s a necessity for my soul to express itself. Being creative for me is overcoming the restrictions. My art is a piece of my soul. I hope my art inspires reflection, provides a release and forms connection at other people’s souls”. She has developed her own vision of art through practicing a lot. She makes use of varying degrees of figuration, abstraction and impressionism by adding a contemporary twist. Abstract art for her is an interesting challenge for understanding inner feelings, a self-expression based on an intuitive approach. In figurative art her main subject remains women. Her artworks representing women contain the raw emotions of women. She also communicates the importance and the power of strong female relationships: “Women are enriched when they bond with each other”. She works in series: among them are "Heart-mind connection" of abstract artworks, "Women", "Bond", "Florals", "Springtime"... She uses various mediums ( acrylic, oil, watercolor, oil pastels) to create her unique artworks either on canvas or on paper. But she mainly uses acrylic as she works very quickly and expressively by finishing her artwork in one sitting. If Natalya had to pick one quote about her art, she would say : " Art is the reflection of the soul". Natalya goes with her gut and intuition to choose the colors, the lines, the shapes and the texture. She hopes her artworks will give a home a unique personality by filling it with life and color. Her sources of inspirations are Claude Monet, Paul Cezanne, Henri Matisse, George-Daniel de Monfreid, Paul Gauguin. She also admires the artworks of Joan Mitchell and Banksy.

'Rona Wars: Cyberpunk Edition, ' by XVALA, Mixed Media Painting
By XVALA
Located in Oklahoma City, OK
This 61" x 44" mixed media painting by the artist XVALA is from his series 'Pandemic Collection: 6.' The painting was created with iridescent oil stick and spray paint on a screen print of a Star Wars poster. The abstracted "Basquiat-inspired" work depicts a silver robot with red eyes and large white teeth on a purple and blue background with the text 'cyber punk' in red at the bottom of the painting.
2020 twisted human reality in a number of ways no one could ever have predicted. XVALA pays tribute to this by melding the original Star Wars movie poster with the unexpected weirdness of the 21st Century. By combining a classic sci-fi villain with a modern symbol of literal Cyberpunk, XVALA shows the COVID-19 virus aimed straight toward the earth with a mission to destroy it.
Exhibited during the Pandemic Paintings exhibition at the Meme Ranch August 7th, 2020.
XVALA's art illuminates the hidden fallout spawned from our high tech Internet age. His' Fear Google' campaign exposed the decay of privacy and 'No Delete' used hacked nude celebrity photos to highlight loss of control over personal information. The artist has worked with trash from the homes of Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, and others, as well as dirt from the graves of George Orwell and Aldous Huxley. The dirt appears in the 'New World Order' collection as part of a pyramidal, 3D printed, living ant farm...
