About the Item

This captivating painting "Dinner on the terrace in Provence" presents a serene coastal scene viewed from an inviting terrace. The artist’s use of an expressive, painterly style imbues the piece with a sense of movement and emotion, while the bright, vibrant colors convey the liveliness of the setting. In the foreground, a well-laid table holding a vase of exuberant white flowers captures immediate attention, drawing the viewer into a scene of leisurely seaside enjoyment. The table is adorned with an artfully arranged pitcher and a set of plates and glasses, painted in broad, confident strokes that provide a sense of spontaneity and casual elegance. The juxtaposition of these elements suggests an impending, yet unhurried, alfresco meal, celebrating the joy of simple pleasures. Beyond the balustrade, the tranquil sea stretches to the horizon, rendered in rich turquoise and emerald hues that reflect the shifting light and the gentle undulations of the waves. The water’s fluidity contrasts beautifully with the static solidity of the rocky cliff to the left, which is crafted with earthy, robust tones. Above, the sky dominates the upper portion of the painting, its melding of gentle blues and soft whites signaling either the promise of a fresh morning or the soothing close of day. The framing of the terrace and sea with the garden elements grounds the composition in a naturalistic yet somewhat impressionistic style. The entire scene evokes a palpable sense of place and time — a momentary escape to a charming coastal vantage point. The painter’s adept handling of brushwork and color harmony creates an evocative and harmonious whole, ensuring that each element, while individually striking, contributes to an overarching sense of tranquility and contentment. This artwork stands as a vivid testament to the beauty and restorative power of nature and leisure. This painting is done with oil paints on a cotton canvas. It is ready to hang. The photos of the painting in the interior are for your inspiration. This is a unique, one of a kind original painting. It is signed on the front and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. The painting will be carefully packed in cardboard box with layers of bubble wrap and sent out to you as soon as possible. She often entertained friends Rudolf Nureyev, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and Sergei Leiferkus when they were in town. Natalia Makarova and Yuri Possokhov were often guests at Irina's Russian Christmas and Easter parties. From the early 1960s through the late 1980s, Irina studied and prolifically created still life and portrait paintings in oil and water color, excelling in flower compositions. She held studio and feature exhibitions; she competed and won prizes. Her work is in holdings throughout the San Francisco Bay area, Europe and Russia. In 1965 she undertook private study with two prominent Russian painters, including Serge Ivanoff; she executed a portrait of her two masters. She cherished her portrait as executed by Serge Ivanoff.
