Patrick Roggenbau (B. 1961, German) God is a Woman 2018 Acrylic on Canvas 60 x 48 inches Acquired directly from the artist. ABOUT THE SERIES. In his new series, Roggenbau further explores the complicated relationship between man and nature, humans and animals. The artist expresses this relationship in his work in color and vibrancy, using lush, tropical references for nature or depicting in color the energetic field between human and animal. In "God is a Woman", Roggenbau explores the belief that people who do not accept that we are nature and nature is us, will lose the connection to animals and plants, the interdependence that makes the construct of life on earth so unique and beautiful. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Patrick Roggenbau is a mid-career artist born in 1961 in Aachen, Germany. His schooling in the arts includes: * University of Duisburg, Germany. Fine arts, Roman and Anglo Languages. * Università di Siena, Italy. Italian literature and art. * Academia San Lorenzo de Medici, Florence, Italy. Art and Art Restoration. Mr. Roggenbau's work explores the connections between human and animal, human and nature. The artist believes that the human relationship with animals is often lived out on a very emotional level. He explains that in it’s ideal form, it would be a connection of harmony and love, but that many times it is defined by dysfunction, possessiveness and misunderstanding. He depicts this connection in his paintings as a colorful, energetic field between human and animal or human and nature. If the connection with nature is lost, man can become blind to the value and beauty of nature (see "All but Blind" ). The human, animal connection can also be affected by the overpowering nature of humans, as in the case of a ballerina, who with her sheer grace, power and beauty mesmerizes and paralyzes the two hunting dogs (see, "The way you make me dance" ).
