About the Item
Robert Lebsack creates artworks using mixed media with ink, acrylic, and charcoal on archival copies of newspaper, textbooks, or sheet music. His street art tends to focus on social and cultural issues using bits and pieces of headlines, articles, and ads as the background. Lebsack layers human subjects and thought-provoking landscapes, using the confrontation between his subjects and a surreal background to address societal trends, such as materialism, loneliness, changing environments, and isolation. His paintings have been exhibited and collected worldwide, including New York, Singapore, Zurich, Los Angeles, and Hong Kong. His collectors include many local Los Angeles celebrities as well as major international art collectors.
Lebsack created this original 12 inch high by 9 inch wide artwork using mixed media including acrylic paint, ink, and charcoal on sheet music. His imagery is hand drawn with great detail. This artwork is unframed and requires framing to be properly displayed. It is signed by the artist on the front. Convenient local Los Angeles area shipping Affordable Continental U.S. and global shipping also available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included.
Lebsack’s artworks tell us stories about ourselves. They have a remarkable ability to filter our dreams and aspirations while visualizing edgy, half-buried perceptions troubling us about the world around us. Many of his paintings express courage and offer a form of and engagement with our continually shifting surroundings.
Lebsack says about his art: “It’s about new ways of thinking for future generations. Hopefulness in young dreamers and a paradigm shift away from conventional reasoning in thoughts and actions. Some social norms can be good but they can also hold some people back, stunting our growth individually and as a society.”
Robert Lebsack received his formal training in illustration, design, and photography at California State University, Long Beach, where he earned a BFA degree in Illustration in 2004. After graduating, Robert went on to work full-time as a studio Artist/Muralist and Commercial Illustrator for an Interior Design Company where he designed graphics and painted murals for restaurants, schools, and universities throughout the country. With his industry experience, Robert moved on to focus on creating fine art.

- 'Judgment of Paris' Domenico Lupini attributed to, late XVIth century, oil paintLocated in Milan, ITThe model derives from an engraving by Marcantonio Raimondi based on a drawing by Raphael, specially made for the graphic work, deriving from a painting placed in the Stanza della Segnatura (1513-1515). This model was taken up and changed by Hans von Aachen in a canvas dated 1588 and today preserved at the Museum of the Charterhouse of Douai, in turn taken up in an engraving of the following year by Raphael Sadeler, in the Cabinet of Drawings and Prints of the 'Carrara Academy of Bergamo. The canvas in question is derived from this last version, which shows the same changes made with respect to the Raphaelesque original. At the center of the scene, which takes place immersed in a natural landscape, are the three goddesses who competed for the title of the most beautiful: Juno with the peacock, her symbolic animal, Venus accompanied by Cupid and Minerva next to which are the helmet, spear and shield. Paris, from behind, is giving the golden apple that decrees the winner to the goddess of love, under the gaze of Judge Mercury. Two cherubs flit around the protagonists, while in the foreground, always from behind, there is a male figure. A country boarding school is taking place on the back lawn. The work, as evidenced by a small scroll, is attributed to Domenico Lupini, an artist about whom not much is known but for whom it is possible to hypothesize the scope of his activity between Bergamo and Venice. The only two signed works are a "converted Magdalene" and an "Annunciation", but other works have been attributed to him by the scholar Federica Nurchis and placed in the monastery of Santa Chiara in Bergamo. These paintings present a warm and refined chromatism which, together with the elegance of the characters and the compositional modality, suggest a Venetian stay by Lucini, which seems to recall the atmospheres of Tintoretto, Veronese and Palma il Giovane...Category

- Peek (After Stubbs)By Shelley ReedLocated in Denver, COThis is a framed painting. This painting is oil on paper, and is monochromatic black. Reed's primary focus has been the rich vein of Northern European art from the mid-17th through 18th centuries, a period of enlightenment and profound interest in science, nature, and the animal world. Animals were assigned human traits (peacock:vanity; dog:fidelity), and nature itself was considered a symbol of God's providence - a commonly held belief within the stratified, gentry dominated social order of the time. Reed (b. 1958, New York, NY) lives and works in Boston, MA. She is a recipient of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts Maud Morgan...Category

- A Young Girl Wearing a Garland of FlowersLocated in West Sussex, GBAttributed to William Henry Hunt (1790-1864) and James Holland (1799 -1870) ‘Morning Glory’ -A Portrait of a Young Girl Wearing a Garland of Flowers Oil on canvas: 17 ½ x 18 in. Frame: 23 ½ x 24 in. Circa 1820 An enchanting head and shoulders portrait of a young girl wearing a white shift, her short dark curls crowned with a red-ribboned wreath of Morning Glory flowers, with her cheek resting on her hands clasped atop a column, against a ground of blue sky and two fluttering peacock butterflies. About this Painting This unsigned work can be dated to the 1820’s, and is by a very accomplished hand. In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, British painting was strongly influenced by Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723–1792). The young girl in the present work bears a marked resemblance to Lady Gertrude Fitzpatrick, who was the subject of Reynolds's 1779 painting entitled 'Collina' (Columbus Museum of Art), (ill.1). It is likely the artist was familiar with this work and used Collina’s pretty face as the figure in the present fancy portrait. The portrait is almost certainly an allegory; Collina’s spiritual face, morning glory flowers signify love, affection or mortality and also the month of September. The butterflies typically represent the Greek goddess Psyche. It is interesting to note the importance given to this painting by the then owner when the canvas was relined in the 19th c, since the stretcher is impressed with the stamp 'W. Morrill Liner'. William Morrill (1838-1910) picture restorer took over his father’s business in 1866, working extensively for the National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Royal Collections and other prominent collectors. Attributions This work dates to the 1820’s, too early to be by a high Victorian painter but has a pre-Raphaelite quality, so the artist surely went on to become a prominent mid-Victorian painter. There are only a few young artists painting in the late Regency period who could have executed the work. The very prominent Morning Glory suggests the hand of an accomplished flower painter who was very confident with morning glory flowers. James Holland RA (1799-1870) is a strong contender but he lacked skills as a portrait painter. Holland also favoured ‘tondo’, and is known to have painted several studies of morning glory(ill.2), and placed butterflies in his flower pieces (ill.3) Several years of research led us to the firm conclusion that the work was a collaboration between Holland and his close friend William Henry Hunt an accomplished painter of portraits, genre and still life. Hunt painting the young girl based upon Reynolds ‘Collina’, with Holland painting the flowers, sky and butterflies. William Henry Hunt (1790-1864) was one of the key figures in nineteenth-century English watercolour painting. His work was extensively collected in his lifetime, particularly his genre pictures of children, often in humorous situations, and his detailed, naturalistic still lifes of fruit, flowers, and birds' nests that earned him the nickname ‘Bird’s Nest’ Hunt. James Holland (18 October 1799 – 12 December 1870) started his career painting flowers on pottery and porcelain for the William Davenport in Longport, before going on to be recognised as one of the finest watercolourists of the English School, best known for his flowers and later views of Venice. Holland was a member of the Royal Watercolour Society and first exhibited at the London Royal Academy in 1824. Gallery note Kevin researched this enchanting painting for several years, being torn between a collaboration of several possible young artists of the time, including James Holland, William Etty, Charles Baxter...Category
