About the Item

"Untitled" is a painting by Rodolfo Morales. The painting is signed lower right, "Rodolfo Morales". The framed piece measures 37 3/4 x 39 7/8 x 2 1/4 in. Rodolfo Morales was a Mexican painter noted for incorporating magical realism into paintings featuring Mexican landscapes and cityscapes. These bright and dream-like settings often feature Mexican women in village settings. Morales, Rufino Tamayo and Francisco Toledo helped make Oaxaca, Mexico an art center. Along with Toledo, Morales had been regarded as Mexico’s greatest living artists. Tamayo was a friend of Morales and it was from Morales's first major solo exhibition at the age of 50 that he came to the attention of Tamayo. Tamayo helped Morales gain contacts in the art world.
