"Clair de Lune" is a contemporary oil painting on canvas. Orsolic is known for her melodic landscapes and precise attention to detail, however, in this painting, she branches away from realism and into abstraction, using the colors and shapes to abstract the scene. A woman stands in the center of the night painting, surrounded by blue, red, and white flowers, and wears a crown of the same. This painting is the sister to Tina Orsolic-Dalessio's "Reverie", another duo in her new body of work, about which the artist states:
"How does one describe the elevating power of music in painterly terms?
This is the question I’ve been trying to find an answer to while working on these two paintings. They are based on some of my favorite pieces of music - Reverie (evoking daytime dreaming) and Clair de Lune (celebrating the magic of moonlight), both by Claude Debussy. Interestingly, Clair de Lune was based on another piece of art - the poem of the same name by Paul Verlaine.
Both of these pieces feature a friend of mine Ruta, who is a remarkable musician and a pianist, and who enjoyed playing these compositions many times during her career."
Tina Orsolic Dalessio is a figurative painter born and raised in Zagreb, Croatia. She graduated from Florence Academy of Art in June 2018. She also holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Zagreb Law School, LL.M. degree from the University of Michigan Law School and a PhD degree from the University of Maastricht, Faculty of Law. Before becoming a painter, she worked as a lecturer and researcher in law, specializing in philosophy of law and European Union law.
Alongside her husband Marc Dalessio, she discovered her passion for fine arts, which lead her to a life changing decision to leave academia and devote herself fully to painting.
After being accepted into the presitigious BP Portrait Award exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London, The Poet by Tina Orsolic Dalessio won the Visitor's Choice Award.
Artist Statement:
In my opinion, art, perhaps more than any other social phenomenon, best reflects the shifting tides of human consciousness. So, being involved in arts, and more particularly, being a part of the artistic movement that, at its core entails a careful observation, admiration and respect of the natural world around us, gives me a strong sense of purpose and hope. This reemerging naturalistic movement that I consider myself a part of, rests on humility and acknowledgement of how precious, beautiful and fragile our world is.
As an artist who considers it her mission to inhale the beauty that surrounds her, and exhale it as art, I hope to gently remind others of that same truth regarding the miracle and delicacy of human condition. And in doing that, I hope to become a small drop in the river of thought pointing to the more general shift of human consciousness towards a deep respect for our Mother Nature. For we all are, in every aspect of our existence, intrinsically tied to it.

Born in 1968 in Tellicherry, Kerela, C. Bhagyanath received his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts (painting) from the College of Fine Arts, Triavandrum, in 1992. Following this, the artist went on to study at the Sarojini Naidu School of Performing Arts, Fine Arts and Communication in Hyderabad, where he received his Master’s degree in the same subject in 2006.
Some of the solo exhibitions in which Bhagyanath’s works have been exhibited include 'Ventriloquism' at Kashi Art Gallery, Kochi, in 2010-2011; 'In Limbo' at Project 88, Mumbai, in 2009; exhibitions at Kashi Art Gallery, Kochi, in 2006; and Kannur in 2004. He has also taken part in several group exhibitions, some of which include 'A. SYCO' at the Viewing Room, Mumbai; 'The Way We Are' at Mon Art Gallery, Kolkata; 'Evidentia' at Gallery Sumukha, Chennai and Bangalore; 'Re-claim/Re-cite/Re-cycle' at Bose Pacia, Kolkata; 'Recycled' at Travancore Palace, New Delhi; 'Metamorphosis: Change and Continuity in Indian Art' at Phyllis Weston-Annie Boiling Gallery, USA; 'The Big Picture' at Welcomart Gallery; Gallery and 'Pastiche' at Chaitanya Art Gallery, Kochi.
