As the writing on the verso suggests, this may have been proposed cover artwork for one of author Danielle Steel's staggering count of 182 novels. Booksellers and publishers routinely call for "re-covering" a previously published successful book, generating more sales with a new look. But on its own merits, this work is an archetype of the whole genre of romance novels: It's another time; another castle; another miss blessed with flowing tresses above a perfect face and figure, who because of another naughty boy (plus another billowing dress with inadequate closures) is facing catastrophe. Will she get out of it (the situation, not the dress) with her honor intact and still win the heart of the desirable prince-billionaire-athletic champion-etc.? It surely deserves a home with someone who believes in happy endings.
