Original Watercolor Signed by Guillem Fresquet Bardina, Urban Scene with Classical Ruins – circa 1960s
Original work by renowned Catalan painter Guillem Fresquet Bardina (Barcelona, 1914 – Tarragona, 1991), considered one of the most important Spanish watercolorists of the 20th century. This watercolor on paper, rendered with confident, expressive brushwork, depicts an urban scene with classical ruins—likely inspired by Roman or Italian architecture. The artist's mastery is evident in his handling of light, atmospheric perspective, and architectural structure.
Signed by the artist in the lower left corner, the work is in very good overall condition, presented under glass and in an elegant later-period wooden frame.

About the Artist:
Guillem Fresquet Bardina studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Barcelona under notable masters such as Lluís Muntané and Francesc Labarta. Throughout his career, he exhibited in major cities including Paris, Mexico City, and Montreal. His works are held in private collections and prominent museums like the Museum of Modern Art of the Diputació de Barcelona and the Museum of Tarragona. In 1973, he was commissioned by the Spanish Mint to create illustrations of Spanish cities for postage stamps. He authored the book How to Paint in Watercolor and received numerous awards, including the First Medal from the Catalan Watercolorists Association (which he won three times), and the First Prize at the Montblanc Biennial.
A superb piece for collectors of modern watercolor, Catalan painting, or mid-20th-century urban landscapes.
