About the Item
Hamilton Aguiar's iconic melting poppies are front and centre in this contemporary pop art work. Playing off the idea Warhol presented in his floral prints adding his own flair Aguiar presents a sleek contemporary work. The poppies continue to melt over the edge and onto the sides of the piece, defying gravity when hung. Note the reflective nature of the resin work, creating a mirror like surface.
***Please be aware some of the photos will have reflections due to the nature of the surface, the painting itself contains only three colours, off-white, red and black.***
Hamilton Aguiar is a Brazillian-American artist working out of Miami, Florida. His crisp imagery of natural elements placed within smooth gradations of colour beneath a burnished resin coating is unlike any landscape or seascape previously explored. While his work is clearly inspired by natural beauty, there exists a transcendent quality in his pieces that cannot be imitated.
Aguiar has participated in numerous solo and group shows throughout his thirty year career, having shown his work in galleries in Germany, Korea, Sweden, Canada, and Singapore.
Aguiar's work has been featured in Architectural Digest and Home & Design Magazine in 2023.

Hamilton Aguiar
Hamilton Aguiar was born in Brazil in 1965 and moved to America at the age of 22. Now based out of Miami, Aguiar was initially drawn to another seaside area, the Hamptons. He spent a great deal of time there, opening a studio to observe and paint the landscape in what is now recognized as his own exceptionally unique style; a style that has attracted private and corporate collectors from all around the world.

Textured Contemporary Abstract Painting 'Winter in the City II'
Located in Toronto, ON
Recycled industrial press ink lends Latour's work a saturation of colour and textural detail that is unique to the medium. Through careful manipulation he is able to craft paintings that have intricate coral-like surfaces. 'Winter in the City II' is the second of a pair of pieces that evoke the bustle of a city with the whiteout of a winter's day. This piece evokes David Milne's style of using white space to represent the season while Latour's signature colour saturation comes across in the bold orange and green accents through the piece.
