About the Item

Artist Comments
A serene view stretches beyond, revealing Pope Island in Lubec, Maine. A house rests by the water under a bright sky. This is the seventh piece artist Jay Jensen created, inspired by the interior of a 17th-century stone house where his painting teacher once lived. Jay sees this work as three distinct paintings: the window, the still life of rocks on the sill, and the landscape beyond.

About the Artist
Jay Jensen enjoys capturing the unique magic of a dramatic sky or the late afternoon light. He currently lives in Canada and has been influenced by the work of Johannes Vermeer, Rembrandt van Rijn, Edward Hopper and Andrew Wyeth. Jay considers himself a figurative painter, but particularly loves painting ocean views. He does a lot of glazing which make his works even more luminous in person.

Window10, Original Painting

Artist Comments
"A window is a poetic medium for people to communicate with nature," says artist Wenjie Jin. The glass pane develops into a picture frame upon looking through it from a fresh perspective. Each window plays a specific role in its own story that reflects the colorful hearts of people. Wenjie taps into the spiritual aspect of light being the principal starting point of creation.

About the Artist
Chromatic hues demonstrated in precise, minimalist arrangements establish artist Wenjie Jin's s compositions. She implements aspects of modern and abstract styles in beautifully refined sequences of color. "You may encounter heart-touching moments, including beautiful poetry, surreal dreams, and exquisitely carved structures," says Wenjie. Her work creates a powerful sensory resonance that goes beyond words. Growing up in rural China, she discovered her love for painting and hoped to change her life's path with the paintbrush. Wenjie's creativity led her to pursue jewelry design and, through earnest efforts, became a successful international artisan. She migrated to the United States as an outstanding talent yet faced challenges from the language barrier. Rediscovering painting became her earnest way of self-expression and spiritual tranquility. Wenjie immerses herself in inspiration by taking reference photographs and conclusively translating the material at her well-kept garage studio in Arcadia, California. A celebration of life persists as the central theme of her optimistic message. Apart from being a full-time artist, Wenjie devotes her time to being a wife and a mother, taking care of her family and making them as loving and warm as possible.

Artist Comments
Artist Wenjie Jin paints a modernist window with minimalist color vectors. "When looking through the window, it becomes a picture frame. The window brings in the natural light," says Wenjie. She draws inspiration from the ancient association of light with God. An illustrative comparison of windows and religion comes into awareness.

Cape Cod Window
By Marion Buricatu
Located in Boston, MA
Artist Commentary: This painting of a Cape Cod house is made of 468 little paper squares that I pasted on the canvas. The window, flowers, and bushes were then added with oil paint. My friends and family say that gluing together hundreds of little squares together is slightly obsessional, but I think it actually demonstrates great patience! I love to lose myself into creating and pasting these repeating patterns. Then, I disrupt them with a disconnected and more loose painting on top. But as a whole, both parts are in fact united and harmonious, as they belong to the same Cape Cod house. This is how I feel about myself: one person with two very different cultures. From the outside, they can look quite disconnected, but they actually are not. In fact, I find that I unite both cultures by painting them. What about you? Do you feel like you are made of disconnecting parts? And what do you do to unite them? Words that describe this piece: window, flower, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, flower boxes, shrubs, greens, garden Artist Biography: Life is basically a huge collection of moments. Sometimes you have no idea how everything will end up tying together - Marion Buricatu...
