Warm sunlight bathes a monastery and lavender fields. Lush green hills rise in the background, framing the peaceful scene. The artwork depicts the Abbey of Senanque in Provence, a place worth visiting every spring. Artist Karen d’Angeac Mihm loved painting the flowers, as they reminded her of her childhood days in the south of France.

About the Artist
Artist Karen d’Angeac Mihm creates oil paintings that blend memories of her French upbringing with the serene beauty of the Midwest. “During the summer months, I set up outside and paint en plein air, and in winter, I work in my studio from photo references of recent travels that speak to me,” says Karen. Born in Nice, France, she moved to the United States as a teenager and later left a career in corporate finance to stay home with her children. This transition led her to pursue art seriously, eventually studying at the Academy of Fine Art in Denmark, Wisconsin. She paints in her home studio, a bright second-floor space with three windows, high ceilings, and a view of the lake. When not painting, Karen enjoys morning exercise and spending time with her husband, two grown children, and their dog.
