Everblooming, 20 x 10, Still Life, Oil Painting

2024

About the Item

Introducing "Everblooming," an original oil on mounted linen by contemporary artist Robin Cole, dated 2024. The painting, sized at 20 x 10 inches (50.80 x 25.40 cm), with framed dimensions of 24 x 14 inches, is a quintessential piece directly from the artist's studio. This artwork is a celebration of enduring beauty, capturing a single rose in a state of perpetual bloom. The subtlety of Cole's brushwork in "Everblooming" conveys not only the delicate texture of the petals but also the translucent quality of the glass vase. Set against a softly rendered background that dissolves into a harmonious blend of hues, the painting exudes a quiet strength and timeless elegance. The chosen frame, with its clean lines and muted tones, further accentuates the flower's gentle vibrancy. This piece is an ideal acquisition for those who appreciate the grace of natural forms and the beauty of florals in art. It stands as a testament to Cole's expertise in capturing the essence of his subject with a sense of intimacy and nuanced detail. Artist Statement 'Everblooming' This rose was a gift from my husband, Chris, during the month I became pregnant. The intuition that I would soon become a mother was greatly supported by this perplexingly magical flower that bloomed, without wilt or blemish, in a simple glass of water on my nightstand for nearly six weeks. I have never witnessed such a thing. The leaves eventually shriveled and dropped while the white blossom remained perfectly unchanged. Then a full new set of leaves grew from the nodules. The petals remained perfect in color and shape long after we confirmed my intuition. I watched in awe, day after day. Even when the petals started to loosen a bit, they still did not wilt. I decided that I couldn’t bear to see this flower die. I disassembled it and dried the petals. There were exactly 40, one for each week I would carry our son.
