The artist Sylvia van Opstall comes from all kinds of "worlds that deal with design and classical painting," the design and manufacture of clothing was her profession and passion. In her work she plays with experiences that she gained here.
With a training at the art academy in theater design, she laid the foundation for her current work. The meeting we had with the artist in her studio was special and enlightening. Everywhere, every corner of her spacious and light studio, seemed to consist of a theme.
In this work 'Up she goes' she creates a space where you might think of being in a church. It looks almost realistic. A closer look makes all the brushstrokes and abstract forms who create the kind of reality visible. The painting gives a sense of space to the area where it is shown.
Van Opstall paints all kinds of subjects, just where she longs for she starts to work at.
