Wenjie Jin
Window7, Original Painting

About the Item

Artist Comments
The window becomes the main focal point of artist Wenjie Jin's minimalist composition. Each panel plays a specific role in its own story and reflects the colorful hearts of people. The structural elements allow the viewers to freely immerse themselves in the work. Through the window, nature and her favorite things connect together. "Genesis begins with 'Let light come to be,' which demonstrates that light is the most important source for the world."

About the Artist
Chromatic hues demonstrated in precise, minimalist arrangements establish artist Wenjie Jin's s compositions. She implements aspects of modern and abstract styles in beautifully refined sequences of color. "You may encounter heart-touching moments, including beautiful poetry, surreal dreams, and exquisitely carved structures," says Wenjie. Her work creates a powerful sensory resonance that goes beyond words. Growing up in rural China, she discovered her love for painting and hoped to change her life's path with the paintbrush. Wenjie's creativity led her to pursue jewelry design and, through earnest efforts, became a successful international artisan. She migrated to the United States as an outstanding talent yet faced challenges from the language barrier. Rediscovering painting became her earnest way of self-expression and spiritual tranquility. Wenjie immerses herself in inspiration by taking reference photographs and conclusively translating the material at her well-kept garage studio in Arcadia, California. A celebration of life persists as the central theme of her optimistic message. Apart from being a full-time artist, Wenjie devotes her time to being a wife and a mother, taking care of her family and making them as loving and warm as possible.

The Old Schoolhouse
By Sharon France

Artist Comments
This painting is from my imagination of an old white schoolhouse in a quiet county setting. These old schoolhouses once dotted the countryside, close enough for children to walk to in most weather.

Re Vision, Acrylic on Canvas by Contemporary Indian Artist "In Stock"
By Birendra Pani
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Birendra Pani - Re Vision - 66 x 42 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on Canvas , 2008 ** Will be delivered in rolled form. Should you want the work in ready to hand condition please contact gallery for freight calculation. In this series of works - “Boy - Dancer”, Gallery Kolkata revisits the artists very popular and well lauded ‘Boy Dancer’ suite of paintings on the plight of traditional Gopitua dancers from his native land, Odisha. The boy dancers who perform a devotional dance ritual are quickly declining in today’s cosmopolitan world. Pani entwines his empathy for the dying art with an opinion on our post-Modern era. In that respect, Pani does not try to create nostalgia for the decline in the taste for the dancers, instead he problematizes the issue by bringing in a dispassionate view of the issue. The ten canvases on display in this exhibition, features the Gopitua dancers in different situations. The canvases are a hyper-real portrait, far & close shots of a Gopitua dancers with liquid innocent eyes and a small smile playing upon his lips as he confronts the viewer. The blade is a recurring motif in Pani’s work and it has multiple functions and meanings. In this instance its meaning is rather clear — one where modernity eclipses tradition. Style : His fresh, perspective and contemporary canvases have loud and vivid images and use colors like green and shocking pink unashamedly. Pani says his works are preoccupied with exploring contemporary materials, culture and current lives of people, the negligence of local places, their culture, history, memory and their identity in present times. Further he feels the consumerist attitude has penetrated deep into the human psyche. Human beings are being consumed by the commodity rather than them consuming it. In his works, Pani explore the struggles, contradictions, dichotomies and critical reflections of the embodied selves with changes in value, knowledge and culture in our present society. “I have extensively used body parts like brain, heart and other organs, and everyday objects like capsule, syringe, blade etc to create a new visual language. Deriving from life experiences, my idea is to create a new vision by the juxtaposition of the above experience with the rich legacy, diverse visual culture and sensibility of the vast tradition of Odisha’s miniatures and Pata paintings, stone carvings, monumental visuals of temples and dance forms like Gopitua dance and Chhau-dance in Odisha.” Pani, thus attempts to create a new phenomenology and the reinvention of ‘self’ in a globalized and yet very localized world. Longing Past II : Wall Clock, Painting, Acrylic, Blue, Metalic sheet "In Stock"
By Pradosh Swain
Located in Kolkata, West Bengal
Pradosh Swain - Longing Past II - 24 x 60 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on canvas Inclusive of shipment in a roll form. Style : Pradosh’s works can be described as psychic automatism in its pure state. His works are expressive and his palette vibrant and gorgeous. Nature is the frequent imagery that we see in his paintings. Sometimes his imagery is outlandish, perplexing and uncanny as it is meant to shake the viewer and make them to think beyond the theories which they have guarded themselves with. Lot of elements that we see in pradosh’s paintings also come from his childhood days in Odisha. His paintings often take us on a nostalgic ride where we see elements which we were so used to and have now learnt to live without. He uses common elements that we see in our day to day life to convey his feelings and thought which makes his works all the more interesting. His paintings leave the viewer perplexed at the first glance but a deeper look gives the insight into his thoughts that instigate him to create. Pradosh’s paintings have a surrealistic quality, the imagery is dreamy and mystical and rendering is such as if there is some kind of romance and magic happening amongst the colours in his palette. His paintings are the result of brilliant culminations of feelings and things that are between imagination and reality. They reflect his genuine concern about issues he feels for. He emphasizes on the power of imagination and believes that revelation could be found anywhere….on the streets and in everyday life. Through his paintings artist depicts the notion that how our high pace life is making all of us loose that contact from the nature or even with ourselves.
