The atmosphere under the Aegean sun bestows an ethereal glow upon its surroundings. In this painting, the ultramarine blue of the sky melds with the bright sunlight, creating a harmonious blend with the soft yellows of the hills. An ancient olive tree stands solitary in the courtyard, enriching the scenery with its lush greens. Artist Zeynep Genc spends her summers in Bodrum, Turkey, where the architecture, sights, and nature inspire her work.

About the Artist
Artist Zeynep Genc explores the interaction between modern urban landscapes and the transitions of nature in her paintings. Her subjects center around Northeastern American settings, themes related to her profession, and experiences from her travels to different countries. "As an interior architect and industrial designer, my selective perception influences how I experience the surroundings and find beauty in the synchronicity of architectural and natural elements," says Zeynep. Originally from Eskisehir, Turkey, her career spanned more than 30, during which she taught interior design at Bilkent University and Middle East Technical University, Ankara. She relocated to New Jersey in 2015 and has been painting ever since. Zeynep paints in the corner of her well-lit and organized living room, listening to Italian baroque music and enjoying a cup of coffee. She spends her summers in Bodrum, Turkey, where her house sits right next to the beautiful Aegean Sea. When not creating art, she frequents museums and galleries, prepares healthy Mediterranean meals, and enjoys quality time with her family.
