About the Item

A large Bluebell woodland painting, expressed and gestural, painted with energy and love of the subject. My locality is packed with woodland walks and the Carr Mill Dam area is beautiful, last Spring it was packed with wild flowers. I work from photos and imagination, my technique usually involves moving into an abstract version of the starting point. I use Loxley Gold professional canvas and paint with manly Golden acrylic paint. The artwork is sealed with varnish to seal and protect the surface. The work is sold unframed and the interior images are shown to give you an idea of what the artwork could look like . Sincere thanks Jan Additional information: Acrylic paint on Canvas 91 H x 153 W x 4 D cm (35.83 x 60.24 x 1.57 in) Sold unframed Image size: Height: 91cm (35.83 in) Width: 153cm (60.24 in) Complete size of unframed painting Height: 91cm (35.83 in) Width: 153cm (60.24 in) Depth: 4cm (1.57 in) Artist biography: Jan Rogers, artist, is available to buy online and in our gallery at Wychwood Art. Since discovering Kandinsky at a very early age I have been obsessed with vibrant colour and pattern. I later discovered William Morris and I knew I wanted to spend my life creating pattern, in particularly I was going to design wallpaper. After graduating from art college I set up my own business as a freelance surface pattern designer, selling to a worldwide market of home furnishing manufacturers. This was a wonderful and rewarding career until the industry began to change. As we now live in a digital world the requirement to create and manipulate design on a computer took away the joy and thrill of an ever changing journey that creating as you go allowed. I needed to break away and find a new way of creating, inventing and expressing the energy and passion designing once gave me. So since 2017 I have been painting, inspired by my love of flowers and the British landscape and seascapes it's the perfect way forward for me and wonderful to experiment with new mediums and subjects without restriction. I like to think each painting is a further development of the previous one and that I am continuously growing, evolving and discovering new art as each week passes.

"Ribbon" Extra-Large Contemporary Landscape Painting By American Martin Hoffman
By Martin Hoffman
Located in Frederiksberg C, DK
Introducing "Ribbon," an extraordinary painting from the "Jersey Meadow Series" by Martin Hoffman in the 1970s. From the 1970s onwards, Hoffman's career showcased a masterful combination of beautiful painting techniques and challenging subject matter. This contemporary painting depicts an abandoned landscape with a hypnotic blue plastic ribbon at its center. Hoffman's landscape creates an almost mesmerizing effect, where the subject matter of destruction and decay is presented poetically. The warm shades of grey with hints of blue, brown, and purple create a limited yet powerful palette that enhances the melancholic beauty of the painting. The painting measures 151cm x 202cm / 59.5in x 79.5in and is signed 'Martin Hoffman' on the reverse side of the canvas. It is titled 'Ribbon' and is dated '73.' Additionally, the artist specifies that the painting is part of the 'Jersey Meadow Series.' It is ready to hang and comes with a silver-painted frame. The condition of the painting is great, with hardly any signs of wear. The frame has a few scratches but is otherwise in good condition. Artist Bio: Martin Hoffman was a versatile artist and illustrator, mostly known for his paintings. He was a self-taught painter and a gifted drummer who had worked as an art director for the Miami News, Graphic Arts Inc., and Steiner & Wall Advertising. In 1973, Martin Hoffman landed his first solo exhibition at the OK Harris...

'Towards Le Scathe Cove'. Contemporary Landscape, Rural, Sea, Ocean, Beach Blue
By Sophia Milligan
Located in Penzance, GB
'Towards Le Scathe Cove'. Contemporary mixed media landscape painting, Cornwall Original Artwork, Unframed _________________ January morning, heavy swell and a strong southwester, rain imminent, sheltering beneath lichen furred granite outcrops. A plein air painting from the series 'Holan ha Dor' (Meaning 'Salt and Earth in Cornish). West Cornwall is a harshly beautiful peninsula, jutting out into the wild tireless ocean, shaped and moulded by powerful salt laden Atlantic winds, and criss-crossed by ancient, tangled hedgerows. Drawn to the immediacy of moments, underpinned by enduring narratives, Sophia's fluid expressive paintings explores the flux and balance in the nature of all things: The freedom of the air and solidity of the soil; Of anchored stone and rhythmic water; Of human narratives written in the wild landscapes; In the sensual interplay of light and shadow. They capture an essence of the equilibrium between wild raw energy and serene stillness; chaos and harmony; and the enduring and the effervescent. Mixed media on watercolour paper Signed and inscribed Unframed 23 x 30cm / 9 x 12 inches __________________________ About The Artist Sophia Milligan is a contemporary multidisciplinary artist, exploring discourses on permanence & evanescence; the eternal, cyclical absolutes of birth & death; motherhood & childhood; and ancient immutable connections. With resonating ripples of intuition and instinct Sophia illuminates the presence of the ordinary, creating moments of sublime present. 'Born among the wild cliffs and tempestuous seas of west Cornwall, I grew with the intimate details in the twisting lanes and the intense changing light throughout the turbulent seasons. I formed a primordial connection with a deep instinctual sense of being part of the natural narrative, and wherever in the world I may be, this connectivity underpins my practice. Like the wind sculpted hawthorns and sensual coves of weather worn granite, I have been shaped by the powerful energy entwined in this ancient raw environment.’ ‘We are the stories of the journeys that came before. I weave into my work the tales of transitory circumstance; of struggle and survival; of forms and textures holding records of evolutionary millennia. I paint, I draw: with marks, mixtures, photography, words; the raw earth; the restless oceans; the whispered breeze. I work with time, and the immeasurable spaces of experience within, giving subtleties of existence a pause for contemplation. There is beauty in such poignant breaths. All moments are significant, every pebble of now forms the vast mountain of yesterday, and the great realm of tomorrow's possibilities'. Sophia has a 1st class honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Visual Arts and World History, and a Masters Degree in Contemporary Visual Arts. Her work is held in prestigious international private collections, and exhibitions of her interactive, immersive installation, photography and mixed media works include 'Tabula Rasa', London; 'Superlative', Plymouth; 'Transition', Newlyn; The Eden Project, Cornwall; The European Parliament, Brussels; Kew Gardens, London; and 'The Cameraless Film Festival', Chicago...
