About the Item

"We Become the Breath, Silence and Light Between the Leaves" is a 39.5 x 23-inch painting on buried canvas and the newest work by Katherine Filice, composed of ink, charcoal, embers, found objects, and chalk. Immersive and meditative, this work captures the ephemeral moment when presence dissolves into atmosphere—where we become part of the forest’s breath, silence, and flickering light—a metaphor for grief, loss, and renewal. Filice buries her canvas for a variety of seasons, giving the work a physical memory of the land, while the surface holds markings both deliberate and weathered, forming a spiritual and emotional field. The piece is hung with a custom bar that is securely attached and included. Signed in verso. In excellent/new condition and ships from Northern California.
