About the Item

“Tidal Motion" is inspired by the ferocity and grace of the ocean. This seascape is a visceral exploration of twin forces, where roiling waves weave a complex dance of destruction and creation upon the jagged cliffs of the shore. Through interplay of colors and textures, the artwork invites the viewer to witness the ceaseless push and pull of the sea's heart, whispering ancient secrets to those who stop to listen. Drenched in the blues of cascading waves, saturated teals flecked with crests of white, the foreground evokes fluidity and motion. Textured brushstrokes unfurl the story of water waging a timeless battle against the rigid majesty of dark, weathered rocks. Just beyond the chaos, subtler hues converge to form a distant horizon, offering a tranquil counterpoint to the foreground's dynamic fervor. Delicate gradations in the sky suggest the phantom whispers of calm amidst the roaring symphony below, alluding to the perpetual cycle of turmoil and peace that ebbs and flows with every tide. This 8 inch by 10 inch artwork is painted on a ¼ inch panel. It is framed, floating style, in a black wood frame. Framed dimensions are 9 x 11 x 1.25 inches. Katherine Kean’s paintings seek moments of breath-taking transition in nature; a gathering of clouds or changing tides; times when the elements of the landscape combine with the alchemy of imagination to illuminate the world of heightened mood and sensation. Her work aims to capture these fleeting moments in time and reveal the serene center that can arise amid nature's turbulence, providing a visually and emotionally rich experience. She has exhibited in museums and galleries across the United States and has been acquired by many private and corporate collections. She has been honored to have her work selected for Bloomingdales in Santa Monica, California, Schiffer's 100 Artists of the West Coast II, Paint America's Paint the Parks, Manhattan Arts Healing Arts International's Celebrate the Healing Power of Art and the National Weather Center 2015 Biennale and the 2024 Hawai'i Surrealist Exhibit.

Liquid Sun Splash landscape impressionistic
By Katherine Kean
Located in Palm Desert, CA
If you don't like the weather in New England now, just wait a few minutes.۝ - Mark Twain The weather in Hawaii provides a similar effect, or rather than waiting as it changes, a person can experience radiant sunshine and pouring rain simultaneously. This one in a series of "windshield paintings"is painterly, brushy, a little bit textured, and slightly raised, particularly for the drops. Painted on gallery wrapped linen, on 1 1/2 inch deep stretchers. The edges are hand painted, providing a finished look, suitable for framing, or beautiful left as is. A childhood of moving and traveling around the United States has shaped Katherine Kean۪s vision, as have journeys to eastern Africa, Mexico, Scotland, France and painting jaunts all over Kean۪s now native California. Born in West Virginia, moving later to Ohio and New Jersey, but growing up mainly in Massachusetts, she attended Rhode Island School of Design, graduating with a BFA in Film, Video and Animation. Long fascinated by the intersection of order and chaos in the natural world, Katherine Kean skillfully uses observation, memory, and interpretation to translate her love of nature۪s kinetic phenomena into paintings that capture the often turbulent emotions within light, weather, and landscapes. Her work has exhibited in museums and galleries across the United States, including the LACMA Art Rental and Sales Gallery and the Brand Library Art Gallery in Los...

The Wave, Original painting, Landscape, Contemporary
By Helen Robinson
Located in Deddington, GB
The Wave By Helen Robinson [2020] The Wave is one of a series of contemporary abstracted seascapes exploring the way light interacts with sky, earth and water. This work suggests the way light reflects on the ever-changing tidal channels which make intricate patterns through areas of saltmarsh. The use of bright colour, expressive brushmarks and tonal blending present a calm scene, with the suggestion of a white wave just below the horizon. Additional Information: original Oil on canvas board Image size: H:40 cm x W:40 cm Complete Size of Unframed Work: H:40 cm x W:40 cm x D:1cm Frame Size: H:47 cm x W:47 cm x D:4cm Sold Framed Please note that insitu images are purely an indication of how a piece may look Helen Robinson's atmospheric oil paintings represent impressionable moments in her life, mostly inspired by her love of travel and the sea. Following a career in town planning, Helen pursued her interest in art and has now been painting regularly for over 15 years. In 2013, she obtained an Honours degree in Art History when she found she was drawn mostly to artists who painted light. Influences include the 17th century Dutch landscape painters and William Turner, particularly his works. Helen's recent paintings are contemporary sea and cloudscapes which have a strong sense of light, mystery and drama. Memories and photographs of travel and sailing experiences provide the starting point for her work which then evolves in a more abstracted way. She focuses on the way light interacts with sky, earth and water - both vast expanses of sea and intricate salt marshes with their detailed patterns of water...
