Elena Narkevich
Blue Butterfly (A girl in a blue costume) - naive art, made in turquoise, blue

2017

About the Item

Blue Butterfly (A dancer in a blue costume) - naive art, folk art, primitivism, made in turquoise, blue, brown, red colors. Elena Narkevich deliberately chooses naive art, like the famous artists Henri Rousseau and Niko Pirosmani, as their visual discourse, which is an ideal means for expressing and recreating a world in which happiness, humor, naivety, love and tranquility reign, all those broad spectra emotional states that reach us in pure form. Scenes from everyday life that take place in homes, in parks, at fairs, markets, make her narrative works something illustrative, without losing the quality of painting. Each scene (which tells and makes us dream in colors) is replete with small details, ornaments and skill (game) of color, which reveals the artist as an observant and very sensitive person, able to show in his works that sincere reality and (positive) attitude to to the person the artist wants to convey. The spectator, contemplating Helen's paintings, is fascinated by the balance of pure, peaceful art (filled with sincerity and tenderness). As Matisse said that "I dream of a balanced art, full of purity and tranquility, art without vain and restless plots, art that could rest the mind of an intellectual worker, business person, writer, just like a comfortable chair gives rest to a physically tired person." Elena Narkevich – master naive style, her work is known in Europe thanks to the ability to truly convey human emotions, delight, surprise, and sometimes sadness. Yelena was born in Minsk in 1964 and for many years she and her husband, also an artist Igor Fomin live in the province of Malaga, Spain. Igor was born in 1963 in Minsk. She is a perfect example naïf art from various countries of the former USSR, its contemporary primitives – another name for naïf painting – tend to reflect the excellent quality, as is demonstrated by the prizes which were awarded at the Naïf Competition of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors. Elena Narkevich is an Eloquent example of this, whose painting we have recently seen in Spain and was very well received by collectors. Her exhibitions in Malaga, Madrid, Granada, etc… followed by Arte Santander and Interart Valencia through the services of the Sammer Gallery have represented a real discovery.

The hero at this painting is a human. His eyes are a lenses that artist using. At all time they are together, a man and a woman. Duality of differences, two views, different accents, but in one wholeness. Fomin is a fairy-tale artist, a romance teller, who is choosing never ending life stories for a viewer. He is telling these stories with realistic language of the artist, citing the language of Bruegel sentimental sincerity of Chagall, but also a precise coloristic scheme, that was a signature of French Art in the second half of XX century. The fantastic World of the artist is perfectly detailed that makes it truthful. This artistic language principle defined the style of the artist long before he entered the Art World market. She closed her eyes #7 Zahra Zeinali 21st Century Iranian painting child world
By Zahra Zeinali
Located in Paris, FR
Acrylic paint on canvas Signed on the back Zahra ZEINALI was born in 1975 in Tehran, Iran. From 2001 to 2004, she studied Fine arts at the Art and Architecture University in Tehran. At the same time, she taught visual arts to children during 15 years. Passionate about photography, she trained in photography in 2007 at the House of Photography in Tehran. In 2012, she moved to France. Confronted with her new life, her vision of the world changed. Since 2020, she has resumed training in photography at the EFET School in Paris. Zahra ZEINALI The Doll’s House “What can a true artistic temperament aspire to after a youth spent in Iran today? To flee the hassles, prejudices, restrictions, to open wide a window of freedom rich in potentialities that were believed for a long time inaccessible. Zahra Zeinali became a visual arts teacher for fifteen years. Her pupils are 6 to 12 years old. Drawing, sculpture, painting, model design, she taught them a great diversity of techniques, but above all to think and design freely by themselves, in an atmosphere of joyful creative disorder which, surprisingly, is tolerated by a careful hierarchy. Then she studied four years at the University of Art and Architecture in Tehran. When she arrived in France, after a brief abstract period inspired by the rhythms of nature, it was at the time of the Charlie Hebdo and Bataclan attacks, which marked her deeply, to the point of lastingly darkening the ideal of emancipation and autonomy that she had projected on her stay in Paris. "There is no paradise on earth" she concluded with a melancholy smile. An old doll, bought for 1 euro in a storage room, triggers a click in her. The bitter imprint left by the Iranian confinement, the memory of her fifteen years of teaching visual arts to children, the loneliness of her Parisian exile, all this sentimental nebula found a plastic metaphor in the image of the doll. This is what these delicate earthenware faces evoke, often abused, abandoned, the childish innocence of their ingenuous gazes, a sort of strange absence from the world of the living, as if their attenuated life took place behind the mystery of a theater curtain...
