Madonna & Child With Saint Dominic & Saint Ursula, 16th Century School Of GIOVANNI BELLINI (1430-1516) Large circa 1500 Venetian School Old Master depiction of the Madonna & Child accompanied by Saint Ursula & Saint Leonard, oil on panel. Devotional scene of the Madonna & Child flanked by Saints Dominic & Ursula (shown holding and arrow & book) presented before black drape unveiling a landscape beyond. In the distance the fortification and grazing lambs are shown embodying the virtues of strength and innocence. There is little surface restoration to the panel with minor bowing and no significant splits. There is he presence of early inactive woodworm that has been treated. We are in the process of fully restoring the piece. Unsigned The work is typical of Bellini and his school with past literature on the painting giving reference to Bellini. Measurements: 31" x 24" framed approx Provenance The Czernin Collection, Vienna, from at least 1844 (see Literature, R. Juffinger & I. Walderdorff, 2015, p. 126) By descent to Rudolf, Graf Czernin by whom sold Christie's, London, 24 May 1963 The Collection of Jac.
