Works by this female artst are very rare only seldom come on the market. Juliette Kida Renault (as JKR) Esquire Magazine Illustration Original Art (Hearst, c. 1950s). "He said his first word to-day". A fixture of Esquire magazine, this piece is by prolific artist Juliette Kida Renault, also known as JKR. Classic 1950s middle-class imagery, here, with a "man in the Gray flannel suit" type coming home to find his wife complaining about a pet parrot. The parrot's beak is gagged. A caption appears on an accompanying scrap of matte board: "He said his first word today." Drybrush acrylics and opaque watercolor on board-mounted canvas. Lovely textures. Image area, 10.5" x 15". Excellent condition.
