About the Item
A fine Italian School, late 19th Century portrait. The sitter is a finely dressed man with elaborately styled facial hair. He wears a modest version of the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus, that doesn't feature the green enamel darts at the corners. The green button worn at the lapel is likely a replacement for the green darts. His stern expression and immaculate dress and posture would suggest he is the head of a family high up in Italian society.Â
The artist has signed to the lower left corner and the painting is on relined canvas over stretchers.
