As I close my eyes, I find peace within A tranquil haven, where worries cease to spin My heart and mind, they find a reprieve From the chaos of the world, they can believe The world outside may be loud and wild But in my mind, it's a gentle child I find solace in the silence I keep A place where love and joy, never sleep The world may be full of strife and pain But in my heart, it's a peaceful domain I close my eyes and let go of the past And find serenity, at last So let me dream, let me soar In this peaceful place, I adore For in my heart, it's a sanctuary Where only love and peace, they can be free. About Artist Olaosun Oluwapelumi was born and raised in Osun State, Nigeria, and currently resides in Ibadan. She holds a BSc in Geography and Planning Science from Adekunle Ajasin University. Her passion for art has been a lifelong pursuit, and she continues to hone her craft with every piece she creates. Olaosun believes that black is not just a colour, but our existence, and she uses black skin in her work to convey this message. Olaosun Oluwapelumi is a passionate artist dedicated to creating positive change in the world through her art. Her medium of choice is acrylic and oil on canvas, and she spends days working on each piece to ensure that it expresses her emotions and connects with her viewers. Olaosun draws her inspiration from her life experiences and everything that touches her feelings. She is particularly interested in conveying messages on gender inequality problems, social issues, and African history among other issues connected to black people. Through her art, Olaosun aims to create a connection with her viewers, making them feel the intensity of the story she tells. Researching and working with different materials has brought Olaosun new challenges and ideals, which encourage her to continue creating multiple layers in her artwork. Her dedication to self-teaching has allowed her to develop her skills in pencil and painting and has given her the confidence to express herself through her art. Recently she used Green and Black in her works which symbolise peace and tranquility, as well as hope, harmony, and optimism. Black is a colour of many sentiments. It could be associated with grief, mourning, or the occult. Mystery, bleakness, heaviness, depression, rebellion, fear. However, it is also significantly associated with the strength and resilience of the African people. She loves to create through the pains of people around her, to give them hope and let them know that they are not alone. Olaosun's works have been exhibited locally and internationally in galleries and art fairs. She continues to create art that sparks emotions and creates positive change, and her works are a testament to her dedication to her craft and her desire to make a difference in the world.

Pacifier III
By Do Byung-Kyu
Located in New York, NY
The medium of choice for Do Byung-Kyu, born in Cheonan, Korea, is dolls: they are both his conceptions and his physical expression. At the same time dolls are also the perfect tool for communicating the artist’s inner self. Expressing himself by means of dolls liberates Do from the restrictions of the mundane world. By embodying in the form of dolls his actions and thoughts, dreams and desires, and even the instincts lying in the depths of the subconscious, he transcends the secular boundaries. Dolls are his alter ego, his other self that he can construct precisely the way he wants. Sublimating the experiences and memories from his youth into various subjects of desire, Do uses dolls to paint a descriptive picture of the ambiguous feelings of contradictions from his childhood when he would abuse and kill a plaything, for example a frog, then bury the body in solemn mourning over its death. These sexual or violent games from his childhood are not likely to be limited to Do’s experiences alone. Most of us can vaguely remember indulging in sadistic acts of sexual love against a doll. Rising above a child’s simple curiosity, it is an intuitive game of the senses we play by ourselves. In a number of Do’s paintings, sticky liquid can be observed dripping down a doll’s face. This brings back recollections of the life inside our mothers’ womb where we were also enveloped by mucous waters, like the amniotic fluid. It refuses contact with the anything, and nothing wants to touch it either. The shape of such a mucous liquid is a protective layer sheltering the intrinsic identity and desires of man. It is also a substitution that satisfies the ego’s instincts otherwise suppressed by social norms. The dolls’ eyes...
