Richard Gibbons
This Can't Be! - Woman in a Blue Dress Expressing Shock, Original Oil, Framed

2024

About the Item

This painting is part of a series of portraits by Richard Gibbons in which the subject displays shock, dismay, anger or ambivalence in response to an unknown outside event. The portraits are painted in a retro-style harkening back to the 1950's. Hairstyles and clothing capture a buttoned-up bygone era. The soft palette and nondescript background push focus on the emotive quality of the portrait. This piece is framed in an ornate wooden frame measuring 22.25h x 18.25w x 1d inches.
