Board size: 60 x 48 inches
A fabulous, bold and powerful colourful portrayal of the Roman Empire.
Mixed with the joyful abstract colours makes this a wonderful oil painting to add a burst of colour to an interior. The figures are in battle, showing strong athletic physiques and striking facial features.
There is a touch of cubist technique and style to this portrait. Cubism is an early-20th-century avant-garde art movement that revolutionised European painting and sculpture, and inspired related movements in music, literature and architecture. Cubism has been considered the most influential art movement of the 20th century. The term is broadly used in association with a wide variety of art produced in Paris (Montmartre, Montparnasse, and Puteaux) during the 1910s and throughout the 1920s.
Condition report:
The board and painting are both in a very pleasing condition. There are some very minor scuffs and marks to the surface and edges of the board.
