The Carolinas, Georgia, and Tennessee are home to us both. This stately, ancient tree is native to the Southeast. Its large fragrant blossoms and dark, shiny leaves adorn the green lawns and line the streets of the small towns where I am from. So, when I moved to California, I was pleasantly surprised to see this icon from the South growing freely here as well!
