Wonderful floral pastel still-life of roses by Des Matthews (American, b. 1935), circa 1970s.
Signed lower left corner.
Presented in mat under glass and with rustic painted white frame.
Frame size: 26"H x 20"W
Image size: 17"H x 12"W.
Des Matthews lived in Salinas, California most of her 85 years. Then she left John Steinbeck's hometown for the high desert of Sedona, Arizona. She worked in acrylics, watercolor and pastels painting landscapes, portraits and anything that stands still. This resulted in prizes and awards for all media. She taught drawing and painting for more than 40 years in California, Colorado, Italy and now Arizona.
