About the Item
A self-taught mixed media artist, I am attracted to anything related to flora and fauna and am inspired by the worlds natural unique beauty. I love plants, gardening and especially birds. Having completed a horticulture course this has expanded my knowledge and admiration for unique plants. Being a twitcher also helps my art develop as I discover new species
I enjoy representing Australia with our diverse plant and bird life. I also enjoy creating artworks unique to any area of interest including overseas.
I am passionate about all things art, birds, landscapes, plants and beauty. Pink being one of my main colour choices, for me it represents beauty giving any subject a delicate, feminine touch.
As an artist we adapt, change and explore new avenues. I am constantly evolving and enjoy waking up everyday knowing that I get to create the world around me.
My current life will always inspire me and directly influence my work. My current home has abundant bird life which gives me plenty of ideas for new pieces.

Natives For Blueys (16.11.16) - Original Impasto Thick Paint Floral Oil Painting
By Sally West
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This original floral painting by Sally West features native Australian flowers in a bold impasto style, ideal for collectors seeking vibrant botanical art with expressive oil textures and a contemporary palette knife technique. The richly layered composition bursts with crimson waratahs, creamy proteas, and soft violet blossoms, capturing the raw beauty and vitality of native flora. West’s signature sculptural brushwork brings a tactile energy to the piece, evoking a wild, garden-like abundance that feels both untamed and celebratory.
What makes Sally West’s original oil paintings so recognizable is the combination of texture, abstraction, and calming colors. The movement of the paint strokes on canvas is reminiscent of a light breeze or waves. Each painting is completed in one day, with the date present in the title. West's pieces take at least eight weeks to completely dry. Once dry the thick paint takes on an almost sculptural effect. Overall, West’s color palette is uniquely her own and it conveys a very specific feeling of comfort associated with familiarity and softness.
This one-of-a-kind 30-inch square artwork is painted with thick, textural oil paint on canvas. It is wired and ready to hang. It is signed by the artist on the front lower right corner as well as the back. The sides of this artwork are painted and it is ready to hang. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping are available. A certificate of authenticity issued by Artplex Gallery is included.
Sally West was born in West Wyalong, Central New South Wales. West grew up on a farm and as a teenager moved to Eastern Sydney for school. Throughout her life, she has traveled through and lived in both Europe and South East Asia to gain inspiration for her artwork. Although her international journeys have acted as an influence on her style, the subjects of her paintings are very close to home. The subjects of all of her paintings exist in an infinite timeline but only in the location of Eastern Australia.
Since West’s first breakthrough solo exhibition in New York in 2011, her artworks have become highly sought after internationally. She has won and placed as a finalist in numerous worldwide art competitions and juried exhibitions throughout her career. Her artworks are exhibited with influential galleries across Australia and the USA.
Artplex Gallery has been representing and exhibiting Sally West's original artworks since 2019. Artspace Warehouse, a partner gallery of Artplex Gallery, has been a 1stdibs partner since 2014 with consistently excellent reviews from clients worldwide. Large Stunning Australian Aboriginal Painting by Naata Nungurrayi
By Naata Nungurrayi
Located in Atlanta, GA
A large and stunning contemporary abstract painting by celebrated Australian Aboriginal artist Naata Nungurrayi (1932-2021), stretched and ready for display. A rare masterpiece of the museum quality dating from the peak of the artist's creative output in 2003. The canvas is singular in both the impressive size and tine quality, and it comes with full provenance and step by step photos (100 in total) recording the creation of this significant piece of work.
The artist used fine dots as the sole element to compose a complex dreamtime landscape where Women's Ceremony took place in her ancestral time. The place is located at Marrapinti and its surrounds, where many water soakage holes were located. Dots in brilliant shifting and contrasting colors form ceremonial Tingari symbols performed by the women, black crawling tracks that may be associated with a site called Karilywarra (two carpet snakes) and mesmerizing Tali (sandhill) movements surrounding the canvas. The work is of the signature style of the artist, singular and easily recognizable. The fine quality of this work is exemplary.
Medium: acrylic on Belgium Linen
Cat no. NN200315
Provenance: Yanda Aboriginal Art, NT.
The painting comes with a COA letter and an artist biograph issued by Yanda Aboriginal Art and a presentation album with 100 photos that documented the entire process of the creation of this large work of art. The edge of the painting bears name of the artist as well as the stamp of the gallery as shown.
