Harvest on the Kitchen Counter - Contemporary Still Life in Oil on Canvas Vibrant still life of vegetable by Lynne Patton (American, b. 1955). Several garden vegetable are laid out on the kitchen counter, under bright lighting. There are peppers, tomatoes, garlic, chilies, and an onion. This piece has a confident, painterly style, with strong brushstrokes to create highlights. Signed and dated "LPatton 2005" in the lower right, with the artist's brand, the "bar reverse 77" Presented in a gilded wood frame. Frame size: 17.5"H x 29.25"W Canvas size: Raised in Montana, Lynne Patton (American, b. 1955) learned to look closely at the surrounding landscape and appreciate the quality of light. She got her first set of oil paints from her father when she was 12 years old. He was a cattleman with a great appreciation for nature and beauty, whose mother studied with Charles Russell. He always encouraged Patton's creativity. It was the beginning of a lifelong love of oil painting. Patton earned her bachelor degree from Rocky Mountain College where she minored in art. In her work Patton seeks to celebrate the beauty and the individuality to be found in the subjects of every-day life. Patton has continued her art education at Pacific Northwest College of Art and studied with Sherrie McGraw and David Leffel, Robert Johnson, Johanne Mangi, Derek Penix, and Sara Siltala. She is a member of the Oil Painters of America, American Women Artists, Rio Grande Artists Association and New Mexico Art League. Patton remembers her father’s encouragement in every painting.
