"Elegant Still Life of Many Cups, Some with Orange" Oil on Canvas, 24 x 30 Inches.
Exquisite, complex and joyful still life composition of multiple cups stacked, in shades of blue, turquoise, orange and white, with many sparkling gold elements. On a ground of two shades of gray with subtle highlights and various tones including a hint of pink.
Note: This painting is framed in a simple, quite expensive gold leaf frame that looks lovely.
Olga Antonova’s subject is compositions of exquisite, quite detailed cups, plates, teapots, and dishes, but there is something whimsical about these paintings that belies their formality: stacked teacups are also amusing, having a kind of jaunty and upbeat personality of their own, polka dots are as endearing to adults as to children, and everyone responds to the 'bling' and sparkle of gold and Antonova’s seemingly effortless ability to paint these radiant details.
This painting is included in an exhibition in our Boston gallery that opened very recently which will be on view through July 1, 2018.
Antonova is one of the leading painters of still lifes in the country, and her unique works are internationally acclaimed. Commissioned paintings incorporating one’s own personal collection are also an option.
Olga Antonova was born in Volgograd Russia in 1956 and graduated from the Repin Institute in St. Petersburg in 1980. Soon after graduation she immigrated to the US and has resided in the Boston area for many years. Her works have been exhibited in 35 solo exhibitions and in over 60 group shows in the US and Europe, articles have regularly appeared in “The Boston Globe,” “American Art Collector,” “Art News” and “The Boston Herald,” and her works are included in numerous private and public collections including the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Museum, Rutgers University. Antonova is also the recipient of an Artists Fellowship in Visual Art awarded by the City of Sacramento, CA.

Bio
Born in Moscow into a family of artists, Sasha Sokolova is an award winning contemporary realist painter, working across a range of traditional oil and water colour techniques. Her current works explore a variety of themes spanning the human figure and nature and feature many of the travel destinations from which she draws much of her inspiration.
Following scholarships from the V. Spivakov fund and Young Talents Fund, Sasha graduated with honours from the Sergey Andriyaki School of Watercolour and Fine Arts in Moscow and went on to complete a Masters of Fine Arts at the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography. Sasha was selected as the only Russian artist to work on the Oscar nominated "Loving Vincent", the first fully painted feature film.
Sasha exhibits regularly in Russia and throughout Europe. In 2021 Sasha’s painting “The Last Portrait” was awarded Honourable Mention in ModPortrait 2021 and will be exhibited with other finalists in Zaragoza and Barcelona...
