Peter Lyons’s still lifes self-consciously participate in the tradition of religious icons, which embody a measure of the divinity they depict. The painted surfaces are immaculate, and often the interior of the float frame is a gold color.
This Nikon suggests the special vision of artists, objective reality transformed, and a monk’s head in a cowl, among other things and ideas. The artist would say that the ghostly flare in this machine is holy.
