About the Item

Original Oil Painting by Robert C. Jackson. Robert C. Jackson (b. 1964, Kinston, NC) began his career path as an electrical engineer before turning his passionate hobby into a full-time profession as a contemporary still life artist. Jackson constructs elaborate scenes from thrifted Americana-centered figurines, soda crates, and balloon dogs that convey a deeper meaning despite their lightheartedness. In the artist’s words:“I believe that fundamentally, the core of our being is fed by both the comedic and the dramatic. However, the tendency of most art leans towards drama, leaving us slightly malnourished. Therefore, I have a pretty simple hope: to feed the appetite with a touch of humor and provide some pleasure to life. I try to engage the mind and heart of the viewer with amusing narratives.” Jackson’s artwork can now be found in galleries and museums throughout the country, including the Delaware Art Museum, the Brandywine River Museum of Art, and the Seven Bridges Foundation. His collectors include numerous individuals and corporations worldwide. Jackson was also the author of the 2014 book, Behind the Easel, which explores the unique voices of 20 contemporary representational painters.

Untitled (paint) #14, 2018
By Ben Weiner
Located in Greenwich, CT
Untitled (Paint) #14 is an oil painting on canvas with a canvas size of 16 x 24 inches, signed, titled and dated on the overlap verso, 'Ben Weiner Untitled (Paint) #14 2018'' and framed in a contemporary white frame. Connecting two opposing styles—abstraction and photorealism—Ben Weiner creates hyper-detailed, lush paintings and videos of extremely magnified consumer products, including hair gel, chemical food additives, and deodorant. In his work, he presents such meticulously rendered, close-up views of his subjects that they read as pure abstractions. A through-line in Weiner’s various bodies of work is contemporary culture’s obsession with bodily enhancement through chemical products—whether by using hair products or taking illegal drugs. In Weiner's Paint series (depicting oil paint on a palette) he explores the upended relationship between process and product. Ben Charles Weiner (b. 1980) is a New York based contemporary artist. His work bridges the seemingly opposite styles of hyperrealism, and process-based abstraction. Mr. Weiner has exhibited his work widely in the US and internationally, at institutions including The Carnegie Art Museum, The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, The Boca Raton Museum of Art, and The Tarble Art Center. His work is in public collections including Microsoft, Sammlung/Collection, Progressive Insurance, and The Frederick R. Weisman Collection...

A Good Day For A Parade
By Randall Mooers
Located in Fairfield, CT
My paintings begin with a serious sense of play, both in the staging and the creating of the compositions. It is at this beginning stage that I operate under the Dadaist dictate that “anything can be art”, and at the same time I seek out a balanced and harmonious composition by way of line, shape, and color. I work according to my whimsy, sometimes seeking to assert some form of narrative however personal or ambiguous, and other times I am simply satisfied with the hint of a human presence. Once I have my compositions the paintings then very quickly become about work, a very labor intensive work that forces me to focus my mind and slow things down (which I feel is relevant especially in this day and age of high-speed everything). A great amount of effort is spent on trying to get to the highest level of finish that is possible according to my current skill level. For inspiration I have drawn from the past four centuries of object specific paintings, from the ontbijtjes (laid tables) of the 17th Century Dutch masters such as Willem Kalf...
