About the Item

"Pinball Wizard (diptych)" is an original diptych by Sean 9 Lugo, known artistically for his murals and street art. The piece is made from acrylic and ink on mixed media panel and measures approx. 22"h x 44"w framed, 22”h x 22”w each piece. This artwork was debuted in Lugo's solo exhibition "Storyteller" and ships with a gallery-issued Certificate of Authenticity. "It’s late afternoon in the summer of 1990 on Maple Street. Caspa, the old alcoholic woman on the block decides to get into her station wagon and drive back and forth on the one-way street, bouncing from one car to another, eventually destroying over 20 parked cars. She was quite drunk at the time, and when she stopped driving into the cars, she drove down the block, taking the red light and straight into a brick building. The scene was like something out of the movies, and surprisingly she only got her license suspended and checked into rehab. They were different times." -Sean 9 Lugo Sean 9 Lugo‘s artwork is reflective of the diverse culture that surrounded him as a child growing up in Hudson County, N.J. with parents from Puerto Rico and Cuba. His street art is known for representing the duality of both Latin and American culture and experiences through masks that can either misconceive or stereotype perceptions. Sean 9 Lugo’s artwork has been shown in solo and group exhibitions around the United States including The National Liberty Museum, University City Arts League, Mesa Contemporary Art Museum, Paradigm Gallery, Deep Space Gallery, Jinxed Fishtown, LITM, 58 Gallery, Dis Micro Gallery, Northern Soul, Thinkspace Gallery, Arch Enemy Arts, Clutter Gallery, Inner State Gallery, Honolulu Museum, 17 Frost Gallery, My Plastic Heart, and Succulent Gallery. His murals can be seen from New York to the Dominican Republic through projects with Track Takeover, Wall Therapy, Welling Court, Arte Sano, Central Ave Sid, Arts Org NYC, Fashion Institute of Technology, HAHAxParadigm, NJ Beer Company, and Savage Habbit. He has been featured in national and international publications such as Metro, Al Día, WHYY, WXPN, Streets Dept, Brooklyn Street Art, Fecal Face, Street Art NYC, Robots Will Kill, News 12 New Jersey, and Jersey Journal.

About the Artist: "Growing up in England during the 80s, the influence and love of American sub cultures through TV, and being surrounded by large non-spaces of US air bases around East Anglia, gave me a slightly odd and romantic view of America. I finished the Masters Degree bronze-casting course at the Royal College of Art in 1999 and have pursued my passion for Art ever since. I have built up a body of work that follows the theme of a journey into abstraction, inspired by Robert Smithson, Donald Judd, Fiona Banner, Cornelia Parker...

Plastic ADN V and IV, Diptych. Mixed media Abstract painting on a stretcher
By Alec Franco
Located in Miami Beach, FL
DNA is genetic information, hidden and encrypted in body fluids. Veiled data that we load, that we do not know and that someone knows how to decipher. Such specifications characterize us in our concrete individuality, make us unrepeatable and yet resist us. That chain of molecules constitutes a conglomerate of clues that someone elucidates because we do not know how to read it. We do not know the links that make up that nucleic acid that delineates us and characterizes us genetically. Curious phenomenon of not having access to such precise and accurate data about oneself. They skimp on us, they deny us despite having more authority than anyone to know their own characteristics. The geneticist, the scientist, is the one who can illustrate our exact and unique genetic conformation. We are carriers of a key that identifies us but we do not know. Alec Franco...
